Changelog: Art Explore, Worlds Redesign, and More

It's time for another UnVale release, and we're bringing you the last of our Explore page improvements (at least for now). Let's dive into everything!

UnVale's Explore page is shown, with a new sub-menu for Art.

Hello, everyone! It's time for another UnVale release, and we're bringing you the last of our Explore page improvements (at least for now). Let's dive into everything!

  • New Art Explore page - Want folks to see when you add new art to an existing OC page or world? You've got it! The new Art Explore page will show recently uploaded art, giving you even more ways to discover cool, new creations.
  • New Worlds design - To address some usability concerns and prepare for future feature releases, we've redesigned UnVale World pages! In addition to some layout changes, you can now filter world content by art, writing, or OCs!
  • Notifications marked read on click - You now don't have to worry about the "mark all as read" command so often! By clicking on an on-site notification, it'll be automatically marked as read.
  • New featured OCs and worlds - Go check out the new OCs and worlds that made it on the home page and give some congrats to the creators! We had so many awesome creations to choose from!
  • Bug fixes - We've fixed a few small bugs around the site, including spots where comment count was incorrectly displaying 0 comments, hashtags wouldn't display properly on written content, and editing your profile sometimes wouldn't save.

Head on over to https://unvale.io/ now to see all these changes! Alongside all these additions, we have also decided to remove some functionality that we've been sadly neglecting for a long time. Please read on for more information, and feel free to drop any questions or concerns in our Discord server.

  • Saying goodbye to shops - when UnVale first started, we had hoped to be an amazing art commission platform for all types of creative content. We've evolved so much in recent years, and– while amazing art is still a big part of our platform– we no longer have the resources to build or maintain a commissioning platform ourselves. While our shops have been closed for awhile, we are officially making the decision to remove them from the site and back away from them for the foreseeable future. While I know this will be a disappointing decision for some, please know that stepping away from this functionality will allow us to focus on other improvements to our vibrant, growing platform. As of now, you'll no longer see shops on user profiles, and you will no longer have the option to customize your shop. We are currently in the process of closing all UnVale Stripe accounts.

These are a lot of changes, phew! As always, let our team know if you have any feedback on this release. Next up, we are working on something that's very, very long overdue: a better place for social posts on the site. Stay tuned!
