How to Put Your OCs INTO MEMES!
Memes are the lifeblood of the internet, often consisting of funny or relatable images, videos, or audios! You’ve probably seen all kinds of different memes, but did you know you can put your OC into some?!

Now, let’s get back to the topic of memes! You’ve probably seen memes all over the place. Whether it be of a particular number, a popular song, a random dog, or a viral clip…memes are found everywhere! Some have fun meanings, others have none at all!
There’s all kinds of different memes, so how should you go about making a version of one with your character? What kind of meme should you try? Well, let’s talk about it!
Draw your OC over a meme/image!
One way you can put your OC into a meme is by taking the meme you want, and drawing your character over it! You could do this with a regular meme, a meme template for OCs, a stock image, or just by taking the scene a meme is from and drawing your character over it! This is pretty easy to do, and there’s a few ways you can do it:
- Draw a one-to-one version of your OC in the pose over the image
- Draw your OC in a similar, but unique, pose over the image
- Draw the most recognizable design traits of your OC onto the character in the image
- Putting a (purposely) poorly cropped image of your OC over the meme
- Draw your OC into a character meme template
- Draw your OC over a stock image pose
Putting a drawing of your OC over an image can be both fun, and humorous! Depending on your style and what the meme is, this can be especially silly if your OC doesn’t quite match the setting of the image! (This method doesn’t work for everyone though, and if you’re a traditional artist, the next way might be easier instead!)
Drawing your OC into an image can be an easy way to create a fun meme! It doesn’t have to be a crazy amount of effort, either! (If you need some ideas for ones to try out, try looking for the “draw your OC in this pose” trend, or the “draw the squad” memes!)

Redraw a meme…with your OC in it!
Redrawing a meme is pretty similar to the last option, but in this case, you’re redrawing most of the image yourself! If you want the meme to feel a bit more unique, feel more fitting for your characters, or have a bit more personal flair…this is the way to go! With redrawing a meme completely, you can:
- Add a funny background that suits your characters better
- Change up the pose a little to suit your OC better
- Change up the expression slightly to suit your OC better
Redrawing a meme might take a bit more effort than just drawing over one, but it can be well worth it in the end! The nice thing about this is you can also do it digitally, or traditionally!
A redrawing of a meme can make it feel more unique to you, since it’s drawn in your own style, and give a new life to the meme!

Draw your OC to a video or audio!
Drawing your OC to a video or audio is another way to make a meme, that takes a little extra effort but can be really worth it in the end! Just take a funny audio, and draw your OC in different poses or expressions as if they were saying the lines themselves! It can be any audio! If you need some ideas, it can be…
- A funny line from your favorite show
- A funny line from your favorite movie
- A funny clip off of the internet
- An animation meme song
- A trending song
The fun part about drawing your OC to an audio is that it can make your OC feel more alive! It doesn’t have to be a full-on animation, either. It can just be a few drawings or even just simple doodles!
Depending on the vibe you want for your meme, simple doodles might make it even funnier! This can be done traditionally too, and you can just record and pan over the different drawings to create the video! (If you need some ideas here, try checking out the “Punk Tactics” animation memes, or the “OC vs creator” memes!)

Create your own original meme of your OC!
One more way to put your OC into memes…is to just create your own meme! “But how do I do that?” Simple! Just draw your OC in a silly way…Yes, really! It doesn’t have to be anything high quality, it’s just meant to be silly! If you need ideas for this, you can try…
- Drawing your OC with a silly expression
- Drawing your OC as a silly doodle
- Drawing your OC in a goofy pose
- Drawing your OC at a funny angle
- Drawing your OC as a fun reaction image or emote
- Drawing your OCs in a silly comic
Some of the best memes, in my humble opinion, are just OCs being goofy! Drawing an OC as a silly doodle or in the style of a reaction image can be the most fun for memes. Goofy doodle memes of your OCs can even serve as a fun inside joke with friends!
With creating your own meme, you can take inspiration from other memes, or just come up with a silly idea yourself! Sometimes though, the best memes come unintentionally! Maybe a little doodle became a favorite of your friends, or maybe a random drawing just ends up representing a super specific emotion in a way emojis can’t truly portray!
