Now it’s time to kick off the holiday season with some ideas to get your OC’s into the spirit! Here’s five ways you can get your OCs festive for the holidays!

1: Turn your OC’s design into a festive one!

One way to get your OCs ready for the holidays is by turning their current design festive! Just a few fun adjustments to a design can make it feel more fun and holiday-themed! If you need some ideas, you could…

  • Make their design better suited for the season
  • Add a fur trim to their clothes
  • Change their color palette to more festive colors
  • Add sparkles or lights to their design
  • Add some festive accessories to their design
  • Add a festive motif to their design
  • Add a festive aesthetic to their design
  • Add a fun pattern to their design

By taking your OC’s current design and changing some details in it, you can create a festive look and still keep the iconic look of your character!

With what you decide to change for your character’s festive design, you can make it as subtle or detailed as you want. It all depends on how festive you want to make your OC, so go crazy with it!

2: Give your OC a new festive outfit!

If you feel like giving your OC a special look for the holidays entirely, you can give them a completely new outfit! If you go this route you can choose something fresh, but still in character for their personality! For some ideas, you could…

  • Give an outgoing OC a silly sweater and a fun headband
  • Give an elegant OC a fancy suit or dress
  • Give a shy OC a subtle outfit with a light festive motif
  • Give a grumpy OC a more normal outfit with a singular festive accessory (Maybe their friend forced them to wear it…Bah humbug!)

Giving your OC a new outfit can be a fun way to get them ready for the holidays! (Especially if you’re like me…and are always looking for an excuse to give your OC’s new outfits…)

Your characters can have new outfits that still look like something they’d wear! You could base their festive design off of their key personality traits. If you need extra inspiration, you could even use decorations around you for ideas!

3: Give your OC’s matching festive outfits!

To branch off of the last two ideas, you could also try giving your OCs matching festive outfit themes! Giving multiple of your characters a festive theme to their fits can be a cool way to coordinate your OC’s designs!

Matching clothes could be especially fun for characters who are close…Or it could be funny to have enemies who want nothing to do with each other forced into silly matching outfits! If you need some matching outfit ideas, you could try…

  • Mr. And Mrs. Clause outfits
  • elf and reindeer costumes
  • Matching sweaters
  • Matching color schemes
  • Matching fancy outfits

Matching designs can be fun for the holiday season, and show off your characters’ dynamics with each other! Their opinions about the outfits could hint at how they interact with each other!

Festive clothes are the best way to get into the holiday spirit! Huh? We’re talking about OCs? Oh…uh…well it works the same for them too!

4: Put your OCs into festive scenes!

Now that you have some ideas on fun seasonal outfits for your OCs, you can try putting them into fun festive scenes! Now’s your chance to experiment with background designs!

There’s lots of different scenes you could put your OCs into, or you could use fun patterns for a background instead! if you need some ideas you could try…

  • A holiday party
  • A cozy decorated living room
  • A snowy forest
  • A busy kitchen
  • A wrapping paper themed background
  • A tinsel themed background
  • A starry night themed background

A fun background can be a jolly way to get your OCs ready for the holidays! You could experiment with scenery and room design, or you could settle for a fun pattern.

5: Have your OCs partake in festive activities!

Lastly, to go with the last idea, you could give your OCs fun things to do! If you really want your OCs to seem like they’re ready for the holidays, have them partake in the festivities!

Drawing your characters mid-celebration, or mid-preparing for said celebration, can really bring your OCs to life! How your OCs prepare or celebrate the holiday could show off different aspects of their personality too. For some ideas for things your OCs could be doing, they could…

  • Be baking
  • Be wrapping gifts
  • Be decorating
  • Be exchanging gifts
  • Be drinking hot cocoa
  • Be dancing
  • Be playing games

Giving your OCs fun activities to do for the holidays can be a great way to get them ready for the festivities, and give you a chance to practice and experiment with different poses for your characters!

Will your OCs exchange presents? Bake cookies? Go sledding? The possibilities are endless!
